SECU MultiTank
The versatile solution for safe and efficient fuel distribution.
SECU MultiTank is Secu‑Tech's truck‑side safety and monitoring platform. It combines theft prevention (SPD), cross‑fill prevention (COP), overfill protection (OFP), ground‑fault monitoring and GPS tracking into one auditable system – modular, scalable, and traceable from depot loading to delivery.
Risks in fuel distribution
Losses in fuel distribution are expensive – financially, environmentally and legally. SECU MultiTank addresses the four critical risk groups:
- Fuel theft – siphoning at depots, en route, or during unloading. Global losses are estimated at around EUR 560 million per year (Munich Re).
- Cross‑contamination – wrong product into the wrong compartment, phase separation, disposal and customer compensation. Documented per‑event impact ranges from EUR 100,000 to 275,000 (cf. The Petrol Post).
- Overfill and spills – spills at depots and stations entering soil and waterways. Industry references cite around USD 15,000 per typical diesel spill – before reputational, liability and traffic costs.
- Explosion risk – vapour cloud ignition after overfill or improper grounding. Worst‑case depot incidents have historically reached EUR 1 billion or more in combined property, business interruption and claims.
A single spill cleanup costs more than the lifetime cost of a full MultiTank installation.
Modular by design – five configurations
SECU MultiTank grows with your operation:
| Configuration | Use case | Typical customers |
|---|---|---|
| COP only | Cross‑contamination prevention at delivery | Fuel stations, depots, haulers |
| COP + OFP | Contamination and overfill protection | Station owners with liability concerns, haulers |
| SPD only | Theft detection and documentation | Transport companies, oil‑company contract compliance |
| SPD + COP + OFP | Complete truck‑side protection | Oil companies, high‑value routes |
| Full system | All capabilities plus tracking | Major oil companies, full fleet management |
System architecture
Sensors and SPD switches feed into Secu MultiControl. Secu MultiTerm evaluates operating conditions and driver interaction. Secu MultiPower supplies intrinsically safe circuits and drives the ValveBox solenoids. Secu IntelliCom transmits position, events and alarms to SECU Client.
- Secu MultiTerm – Operator terminal and driver interface with clear status display, diagnostics, optional left/right configuration and timestamped event logs.
- Secu MultiPower – EX‑rated power supply and actuation unit; powers system components and drives solenoid valves.
- Secu MultiControl – Central logic controller; processes sensor inputs and manages safety interlocks.
- Secu IntelliCom – Communication and tracking module with LTE/4G/3G/2G and GPS for real‑time monitoring and immediate alarming.
- Secu ValveBox – Sealed valve‑control box with integrated solenoid valves, pressure switches and electronics for tamper‑safe actuation of bottom and collector valves.
Two operating modes
- Active Control – The system actively controls bottom valves via solenoid valves. Unauthorized access automatically closes valves and blocks operation. Best for the highest security requirements.
- Monitoring Only – Passive monitoring with pressure switches. No active valve actuation, but full event logging and silent alarms when something is wrong. Best where documentation and alarm reporting are the priority.
Sensor coverage
All sensors use intrinsically safe interfaces and are evaluated by Secu MultiControl.
- Compartment status – retain sensors near the API coupling detect residual product and siphoning attempts; pressure switches on bottom and collector valves report open/closed status (stand‑alone or inside the ValveBox).
- Access sensing (SPD) – API SPD sensor (combines retain sensing and open/close status at the coupling, detects API use outside authorized locations), manlid sensor SPD M (tilt switch around 15°, GPS‑logged), instrument cabinet sensor SPD D (coming soon).
- Optional extensions – second bottom‑valve sensor, additional cabinet/hatch contacts via the MultiRetain module, straight‑way valve.
Mechanical seals and electronic chain of custody
Mechanical seals make tampering visible; the electronics make it traceable:
- Tube seals on pneumatic bottom‑valve connections – any disconnection becomes evident.
- Retain seals protect the cable and housing of retain sensors at the API – removal destroys the seal number.
- IntelliCom housing seals protect the modem and SIM card against unauthorized access.
- Unique seal numbers are stored centrally so seal swaps cannot go unnoticed.
Each sealing event is recorded with QR/ID, timestamp, location and operator. Combined with SPD events and GPS data, this produces a chain of custody from loading to delivery that is robust enough for audit.
Daily operations:
- Sealed at loading – After depot loading the system is set to SEALED. Compartment and sensor status are stored together with depot position and timestamp.
- Monitored during the trip – All SPD sensors and valves are monitored. Any opening or abnormal movement is logged; unauthorized access triggers an alarm with GPS location.
- Verified at delivery – Geofence confirms arrival at the correct station. Unsealing and unloading are recorded per compartment. Retain sensors confirm complete delivery.
- Documented after delivery – The system returns to SEALED for the next trip. Full trip history is visible in SECU Client and exportable.
Software – SECU Client and MultiTankCOM
SECU Client is the fleet control tower:
- Operations & Dispatch – Live map of all tankers, colour‑coded status and event view, geofencing for loading and unloading sites.
- Security & Compliance – Instant email alerts on manipulation or unauthorized access; unlimited trip and event history with GPS and timestamp; clear visibility of every hatch, valve or cabinet opening.
- Management – Trend and exception reports as proof to customers and authorities.
MultiTankCOM is the service tool suite for workshops and OEM partners:
- Guided configuration of MultiTank components at commissioning
- Sensor calibration and channel assignment (retain, API, manlid, valves)
- Diagnostics and SPD‑logic verification before the truck leaves the workshop
- Firmware and parameter updates
- Export of logs and test reports as customer documentation
