Integrated protection for tank farms, depots and on-site storage

WHG-compliant overfill prevention with SIL 2-rated limit probes, continuous level measurement and wireless data transfer. As one auditable safety chain.

Secu-Tech combines FAFNIR-based overfill prevention (LS 300 / LS 500 for EX areas, 76A / NB 220 for non-EX), SECU Tank and TORRIX level measurement, SECU Data telemetry and SECU PID-family product identification into one certified package for fixed installations.

Stationary tank installation at golden hour, with on-site engineers reviewing the system

End-to-end stationary tank package: WHG-compliant overfill prevention, precise level measurement, wireless telemetry and product identification. For tank farms, depots, fuel stations and on-site storage.

Five risks at a stationary tank

A stationary tank often runs for years without incident. Until the day one connection is wrong, a sensor fails or a level reading is off. Those moments decide product quality, plant safety and regulatory standing.

  • Wrong product in the tank. Contamination, cleanup, claims, downtime.
  • Overfill and spill. Soil and water hazard, fire load, mandatory reporting.
  • Missing proof. Every investigation becomes slow, costly and contestable.
  • Unclear inventory. Replenishment and loss control stay reactive.
  • Tampering and unauthorised withdrawals. Product loss without evidence.

When a stationary tank overflows, it is already too late

Overfilling a heating-oil, diesel or solvent tank typically triggers several issues at the same time: WHG-driven soil remediation, mandatory reporting, plant downtime and lost trust. A single failed limit probe or a misread product code is enough to turn a routine delivery into a remediation case. Stationary tanks therefore do not need one isolated product. They need a certified safety chain from limit-level monitoring through product identification to documented data transfer.

One certified safety chain for the static tank

FAFNIR-based limit probes deliver the SIL 2 shutdown required by EN 13616 and Germany's Water Resources Act (WHG): LS 300 / LS 500 for hazardous areas, 76A / NB 220 for non-EX installations. SECU Tank, SECU Tank DATA and the TORRIX probes add continuous level and temperature measurement. SECU Data (EX / non-EX) transmits readings and alarms wirelessly to dispatch and back-office systems. SECU Multi PID, Single PID and O²-PID verify the product at the loading arm before any valve opens. All components share one evidence and reporting layer. One system, one audit, one accountable owner.

How it fits together

Stationary deployments draw from four product families that interoperate at the controller and software layer.

  1. 1

    Overfill prevention

FAFNIR LS 300 / LS 500 (EX) or 76A / NB 220 (non-EX) with SIL 2 / WHG certification. The shutdown chain for every fixed tank.

  2. 2

    Level measurement

SECU Tank, SECU Tank DATA and TORRIX probes provide continuous, temperature-compensated level data for inventory, reconciliation and alarming.

  3. 3

    Wireless telemetry

SECU Data (EX / non-EX) and the SECU Data Manager transmit measurements and alarms to dispatch, control rooms and back-office systems.

  4. 4

    Product identification

SECU Multi PID, Single PID and O²-PID verify the product at the loading arm against EN 14116 product codes before the release.

Standards & Certifications

EN 13616 / WHG / SIL 2

Overfill prevention for static tanks. WHG-compliant safety function

The FAFNIR LS 300 / LS 500 and 76A / NB 220 families are delivered as a SIL 2-rated EN 13616 safety function. They meet the requirements of Germany's Water Resources Act (Wasserhaushaltsgesetz) for water-polluting liquids.

EN 14116

Product identification at the loading arm

Common product-code framework used by SECU Multi PID, Single PID and O²-PID so that depot, tanker compartment and storage tank can be matched before any valve opens.

ATEX / IECEx

Equipment for hazardous areas

Components used in EX zones (LS 300 / LS 500, SECU Data EX, O²-PID, intrinsically safe field circuits) are available with ATEX and IECEx certification matched to the relevant zone.
