SECU O²-PID. Overfill prevention, product identification and connection control in one system

SECU O²-PID combines overfill prevention, product identification and hose-connection recognition in one stationary sensor at the fuel station. Compliant with EN 13616 and EN 14116, ATEX-rated for the forecourt environment.

SECU O²-PID

Safety where the delivery reaches the tank.

Unloading at the fuel station is one of the most sensitive points in the entire fuel delivery chain. Product responsibility, explosion protection, environmental requirements, time pressure and operator practice all come together at the hose connection. A wrong connection, the wrong product or a full storage tank can immediately create high follow-up costs.

SECU O²-PID is the proven system solution for exactly that moment: a single stationary device that combines three functions in one sensor. Overfill prevention per EN 13616, product identification per EN 14116, and recognition of the correct hose connection. The electrical link to the tanker truck is carried through the conductive hose; the tanker electronics read product and overfill information and react accordingly. Unloading is only released when the technical conditions are correct.

Where the risk begins

Several critical situations can occur during unloading at once:

  • The delivery hose is connected to the wrong coupling.
  • The product does not match the storage tank.
  • The tank does not have enough capacity for the delivery.
  • The limit probe or sensor does not provide a valid signal.
  • The connection to the tanker truck is not correctly established.

If these situations are not detected automatically, the risk stays with the driver, the operator and ultimately the product.

How SECU O²-PID secures unloading

  • Overfill prevention per EN 13616. Reaching the limit triggers a reliable shutdown.
  • Product identification per EN 14116. Product and tank are clearly assigned before any valve opens.
  • Hose-connection recognition. Delivery is only released when the right hose sits at the right inlet.
  • One sensor, one architecture. Instead of three separate devices per connection, a single stationary system.
  • ATEX-certified for the forecourt environment. Usable in EX zones at the fuel-station fill shaft.
  • Power supply through the conductive hose from the tanker. No additional connection at the forecourt is needed.
  • Compatible with existing infrastructure. Works with installed limit probes and tanker electronics.

What this changes in operation

  • Wrong connections are detected. Product contamination is prevented.
  • Overfills are stopped automatically. Environmental and safety risk is reduced.
  • Unloading takes less manual effort. Fewer operator errors, faster handling.
  • Existing limit probes can be integrated into the system. No full retrofit required.
  • EN 13616 and EN 14116 compliance supports technical compatibility. Audits become easier.

Components and extensions

SECU O²-PID operates as part of the wider Secu-Tech safety chain. Typical configurations combine it with:

  • Limit probes per EN 13616. LS 300 / LS 500 (EX) or 76A / NB 220 (non-EX) as the level sensor in the storage tank. See Stationary overfill prevention systems.
  • LRC OP1 to OP4. Cabled overfill prevention for one to four connections, when no radio link is required in addition to the stationary solution.
  • LRC GAS. Radio-based solution with handheld transmitter and receiver box for LPG applications (LRC GAS product page).
  • SECU Multi PID and SECU Single PID. Complementary product identification at the depot loading arm, so the same logic applies across the full delivery chain (SECU Multi PID, SECU Single PID).
  • SECU Multiplexer. Control and evaluation of multiple limit probes through one connection to the tanker truck (SECU Multiplexer).

In the wider picture, SECU O²-PID is part of the Stationary Tank Solutions family and the Safe Fuel Station Supply concept.

Unload only when the system says yes.
